✍️Excerpt settings

Excerpt Length

An excerpt is a shortened version of a longer piece of text, the excerpt length setting determines the maximum number of words or characters that will be displayed in an excerpt.

Ellipsis

The ellipsis setting determines what appears after the maximum excerpt length has been reached. An excerpt is a shortened version of a longer piece of text, and the ellipsis is used to indicate that the excerpt is not the full text.

For example, suppose you have a blog post with the following text:

If the maximum excerpt length is set to 50 words, the excerpt would be:

In this case, the ellipsis setting would determine what appears after the excerpt (in this case, three dots). You can customize the ellipsis to be any text you like, for example: "Read more" or "Continue reading."

Finsh

This setting determines whether the excerpt should be cut off at the end of a word or at the end of a sentence. If the setting is set to "word," the excerpt will be cut off at the end of the nearest word after the maximum excerpt length has been reached. If the setting is set to "sentence," the excerpt will be cut off at the end of the nearest sentence after the maximum excerpt length has been reached. This allows for more natural-sounding excerpts that do not end in the middle of a word or sentence.

'Read More' Text

This setting allows you to customize the text that appears as a link to the full version of the content. When the maximum excerpt length is reached, the "Read More" text appears as a link that allows the user to access the full version of the content. By default, the "Read More" text is usually set to "Read More," but you can customize it to be any text you like, such as "Continue reading," "View full article," or "Learn more."
