# Import Contestants Tab

## Importing

To import contestants, first select or add the appropriate category, then download the sample import file for that category. Prepare a file containing the contestants in the format specified in the sample import file and upload the file using the provided form. By default, the value for "votes" will be set to 0 and the value for "contest\_status" will be set to "publish." Required fields will be specified in the sample import file.

1. Select the category that you want to import the file into.
2. Select the file on the local machine.
3. Click 'Save Contestant'.
